The Age of Turbulance

tomalan.jpgWell I am just a couple chapters into Alan Greenspan’s book “The Age of Turbulence”. He is not the most elegant writer, and has a very boring hand, but the subjects interest me so I will finish reading it. Greenspan is a very detailed orientated person, founding most of his knowledge on micro economic theory, and by learning enough micro a macro view. As I read, about the 40’s and the 50’s, most of the lessons can be translated to the present. Joseph Schumpeter in 1942 coined the term “Creative Destruction”, capitalism churning and burning old, failing businesses and reallocating the resources to better ones. Pretty much why Google has become a powerhouse, as the rest of the old school marketing sector falls off. Hopefully I can get some tools or insights on how and why the internet is turning into what the U.S. steel industry was during WWII, and where it will take us in the future.

Thanks for the XmAs present Amy.
