Michigan Service Tax
I really didn’t want to touch the recent changes in Michigan’s tax structure but I have a couple of questions.
Can the State of Michigan tax it’s residents back into prosperity? We all know that answer..
I am still trying to find a list of all services that will fall under the tax, there seems to be no complete lists anywhere.
Services that I am wondering if they will be taxed,
- Snow plowing
- Tuition(higher education)
- Tax on tax preparation services(kick us in the balls harder)
- Coaching(high school coaches fall under contracts, not employee wages)
Other things I am concerned about is enforcing the new service taxes? It seems services are real hard to track, and there will be a ton of loop holes to get around. Passing a law you can’t enforce is a waste of a lot of time and effort.
One last opinion on the matter, since globalization is all the rave, is the State of Michigan going to lose jobs to other states? Yes. Will companies in Michigan lose contracts from out of state? Yes. Just think of how easy it is to outsource jobs overseas, moving small businesses to other states is even easier. When politics fold under pressure, everyone loses.
I’m glad theres a budget, but realize we will be paying ten fold for it in the future. I wish politicions stop putting off problems and just fix them now.
